How Mechanical Mouse Encoders Cause Scroll Jumping

Most gaming mice utilize a mechanical rotary encoder (such as TTC Gold, Kailh, or ALPS). Inside the encoder, two spring-loaded copper contacts slide across a circuit wheel to pulse quadrature signals (A/B channels) to the microcontroller.
